Q: In this digital age, many people will ask - why are you still using a film camera?
A: I still use film for most of my 99% of work because of a simple reason, its quality in Black and White Pictures.
Of course you can shoot digital pictures in the Black n White mode, but unfortunately the digital camera in Black and White quality are still not as good as the B/W film as for me it is too grey, and most of time request me to do so much adjustment in LR or Silver Efex(I am not enjoying turning a colorful RAW picture into B/W).
May be in one day when the B/W Sensor(normally used on CCTV system) comes more popular I will change my mind to a digital camera. But for now I better to stay with my ILFORD HP5 and D76.
(And that is a rumor said that Leica will release M10 that with a 135 full frame B/W Sensor, yeah that is a good news for me but don't forget that Leica may probably cost you an arm + a leg.)

''Walk on Films'' Once you enter the world of film, you will never come back. (like me) |
My camera is just only a camera. What is that means?
It means it can't do anything but taking pictures. It only have M mode, it ate films, it can't take video, the lens can't be zoomed, no auto focus, and don't even have a light-meter! (and of course no reviewing on the LCD because it don't have one.)
And I can tell you the best way to train you skill will be using a camera like this, and go read AA's ''The Camera'', ''The Negative'', ''The Print'' again and again and again.

The most funny thing of today's people is they like to spent £1000+ on a newest model digital camera but don't take enough pictures. Daido Moriyama said, ''If you are not a genius to make quality only, then try to make quality from the quantity! Once you got enough quantity than you will find the quality from it.''.
We all know those great dancers, great musicians and great athletes take lot of practices, but why we always forgot to take practices on photography these day? Taking pictures won't cost you anything on a digital camera so why don't you take more pictures!? I always think that using a autoless film camera is the best way for practices, as everyshot you took will cost you time and money so you won't shooting like a Rambo with a Machine gun. So come on people take more pictures!
At the end of this post is the video of Daido Moriyama working with his tiny little compact camera.
Hope you will like it. =]
